Year-round Programming

Pinyon offers year-round programming for a consistent, balanced, and enriching educational home. This continuous approach means your child stays engaged and keeps learning all the time, helping them avoid that typical "summer slide" and build deeper connections with what they're studying and with our whole community. Please click our calendar page for a complete list of school closure dates.

The Academic Year

Our Academic Year is designed around a truly holistic curriculum that addresses the growth and development of the whole child. We don't just focus on academics; we nurture three distinct, yet interwoven, areas of development: 1. Personal Development: Nurturing independence, deep focus, and the confidence to say, "I can do it." 2. Academic Achievement: Immersion in the full Montessori curriculum—Practical Life, Math, Language, and Science. 3. Community Engagement: Developing essential social skills to connect with others and become a valued, contributing member of our community. This multi-faceted approach ensures your child blossoms into a confident, independent learner and an engaged, well-rounded individual.

Summer Session

Pinyon's Summer Program is thoughtfully designed to align with the core principles of the Montessori method while embracing the freedom and joy of the season. Our emphasis is on discovery and nature exploration. The schedule is deliberately paced, focusing on extended outdoor time, practical life skills, art, and movement. We believe that true learning happens through purposeful work and play. The pace is designed to be joyful and restorative, preventing burnout and ensuring children return to school refreshed.

Our academic week is a busy one! Monday through Thursday: We run from 8:45 AM to 3:15 PM. You can start dropping off your student a little early—we open for drop-offs at 8:30 AM! Montessori Method

The Montessori approach is a proven educational method, based on the principle that children are naturally curious and thrive with hands-on, self-directed learning. The core of the method is the "prepared environment"—a specialized classroom with scientifically designed learning tools. This setup allows children the freedom to choose activities and learn at their own pace, fostering deep focus, responsibility, and independence. This education aims to develop the whole child, not just to impart facts. Through multi-age classroom interaction and material use, students build vital life skills like planning, problem-solving, and a lifelong passion for discovery. Ultimately, Montessori prepares children for life.

I know whole-heartedly how much they care for my son – not only as a student at Pinyon, but as a person, an individual and as a member of their community.
