Here at Pinyon, we believe in nurturing every child's unique potential. That's why we love offering opportunities for what we call "heavy work"—those wonderful maximum effort activities that involve pushing, pulling, or carrying with real effort. It's so much more than just getting a task done; it's about helping our little ones develop self-regulation, coordination, and a strong sense of their own body. These activities really satisfy their inner need for physical movement, give them a huge sense of accomplishment, and help them build that amazing persistence and stamina needed to navigate life's frustrations.

The Power of the Nutcracker
Watch the incredible focus and determination one of our Pinyon students is showing with this squirrel nutcracker work! This "heavy work" activity isn't just about getting a tasty snack; it’s about the amazing physical exertion, the mental grit, and that pure, unadulterated satisfaction that comes when the “crunch” is achieved.
We're truly beaming with pride watching the stamina and problem-solving skills blossoming right here in our classroom!
