Ask Pinyon (Part 2 of 5): The "T-Word"—Talking Tuition with Integrity

Choosing a school is one of the most personal decisions you make as a parent. We know that behind every inquiry about schedules or curriculum is a deeper question: "Will my child truly thrive?"

We believe that transparency is the first step toward building a real community. That’s why we’ve created this series—consider this our "open book." No jargon, no fluff, just honest answers to the questions we hear most often from families like yours.

The "T-Word": Talking Money with Integrity

Talking about money can feel a bit uncomfortable, but at Pinyon, we believe that radical transparency is the key to a strong community. Our 'tiered tuition' model isn’t just about billing; it’s our way of making authentic Montessori education truly accessible to every family.

When you ask about tuition, we know you’re looking for more than just a price tag—you’re looking for alignment with our values. To help open up that conversation, here are the five questions we hear most often:

1. Why use a tiered tuition model instead of a flat rate?

Simple: because a village isn't a village if only one type of family can afford to live there. We are committed to equity and inclusion. A tiered model allows us to create a diverse classroom where children learn from peers with different backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. We believe financial access shouldn't be a barrier to a brilliant start.

2. How is the tuition rate actually calculated?

We don’t use a "one-size-fits-all" fee. Instead, we use a sliding scale that takes into account your gross income, family size, AND your family’s unique circumstances in a given year. It isn't just a rigid formula or a calculator—it’s a conversation to ensure the tuition is sustainable for both your family and our school.

3. Is my financial information kept private?

Absolutely. We understand that personal finances are sensitive. We operate on trust, so we do not require the submission of any financial documentation to establish your tuition tier. Any information you choose to share regarding your income and family circumstances is handled with the utmost confidentiality. We value your trust above all else.

4. Is Pinyon's tuition all-inclusive?

We’re all about keeping things clear and simple. Your tuition covers everything that matters for your child’s daily experience—all the Montessori materials and activities are included. To help us keep things running smoothly, there’s an annual registration fee and a 3% processing fee for ACH payments. We want you to feel totally at home with us, so we believe in being open and honest about these details from the start.

5. Why are you being so open about this?

Because you deserve to know how your school functions. We want you to feel confident that your values align with ours. When you choose Pinyon, you aren’t just paying for a service; you are participating in a community that believes in social responsibility. We want you to know exactly how we’re working to make this school a home for everyone.

The Pinyon Difference: Come See the Village

We know that education is one of the biggest investments you’ll make for your child. Our tiered system is our way of saying that we are committed to accessibility. We don't want families to have to choose between their financial stability and their child's development.

We’d love to have a transparent conversation with you about how Pinyon can work for your family. If you’re curious about what this looks like for you, reach out—our doors are open.
