Our Year of LOVE: A Heartfelt Reflection on the Pinyon Community

As our school year comes to a close, we pause with full hearts to reflect on the theme that has guided every interaction, lesson, and moment this year: LOVE. This wasn't just a word on a poster; it was a living, breathing principle, beautifully demonstrated through both grand gestures and the smallest acts of grace.

Love showed up in our shared experiences—from taking in the inspiration of the UMFA’s newest sculpture to the meaningful, familiar strains of a Beatles song chosen for our End of Year Ceremony.

This year, love also arrived as a magnificent gesture of generosity. We are deeply grateful to board member Nanette Cenaruzabeitia, who was the highest bidder for our collaborative art piece at the annual fundraiser. In a generous act, she immediately donated the artwork back to the school, allowing us to keep this important first piece. This gift truly embodies community love.

But the truest measure of our theme was found in the daily, beautiful micro-moments within our classrooms and on our playground:
The older elementary student who instinctively reached out to hold a 3-year-old’s hat firmly on their head, stopping it from flying away in the wind.
The immediate, reassuring kindness of a child saying, “Let’s get you brushed off,” when a friend tumbled and got covered in sand.
The gentle offering of heart-shaped pieces of bread, shared as a sign of affection between friends.
The focused, intentional work of hands carefully creating small, tangible expressions of love as they needle felted hearts.

Playtime pit stop: foot cleaning on the go!
These simple exchanges—acts of love, messages of love, and gifts and kindnesses—are the foundation of our community. They are reinforced by the intentional use of words of respect and clear communication, ensuring that every child and adult feels safe, valued, and seen.

Thank you, Pinyon families, for helping us cultivate an environment where Nurturing Healing Love flourishes, strengthening our community one kind act at a time.
